چکیده

Abstract. Aerosol and cloud microphysical measurements were collected by a research aircraft during August 2019 over the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The majority of scientific flights targeted summertime convection along eastern Al Hajar Mountains bordering Oman, while one flight sampled non-orographic clouds western UAE near Saudi Arabian border. In this work, we study evolution growing turrets from base (9 ?C) up to capping inversion level (?12 using coincident particle imagery size distributions cores under different forcing. Results demonstrate active role background dust pollution as condensation nuclei (CCN) with onset their deliquescence in subcloud region. Subcloud aerosol sizes are shown extend submicron 100 µm sizes, higher concentrations ultra-giant CCN (d>10 µm) local sources closer border, compared orographic region where smaller observed. Despite presence both regions, an collision–coalescence (C–C) process is not observed within limited depths warm (<1000 m). state-of-the-art observations presented paper can be used initialize modeling case studies examine influence aerosols on precipitation processes better understand impacts hygroscopic seeding these clouds.

Hemoglobinopathies in the United Arab Emirates.

The use of modern DNA techniques enabled us to characterize and identify 44 distinct beta-thal mutations and nine alpha-thal genotypes in the UAE population. All of the beta-thal mutations were severe beta+ or beta0 types resulting in transfusion-dependent phenotypes. Furthermore, a large number of alphaT alleles in the alpha-thal carriers and in patients with Hb H disease, accentuate the impor...
